This is a little painting I did when I was on holidays in Texas last July. Note the outdated fashion of the Southern 'Belles', it really is quite something to see....
Of course I did not really do this, it is a photo of a painting in the AGNSW. The painter is Henri Rousseau, whose work was toured in a recent gallery exhibition on French impressionism. Strangely Rousseau worked as a toll and tax collector (Wikipedia), which sounds a little incongruous with the ideals of Romanticism.
